Joe graduated from University of
Sydney 2009 with clinical focus on upper limb trauma, burns and wound
management, injury prevention principles and neurological rehabilitation.
In June 2013, Joe began working
with us @ Rehab Health and Fitness Aust. Since beginning with RHFA, Joe has
continued to work within aged care and in-home management, with a focus on
falls prevention, increasing functional independence, environmental
modification (including complex home modification and customised aids), and
management of chronic and progressive disease. Joe has been fortunate with RHFA
to have worked with seating, pressure care, pressure wound management and
positioning/postural management for a range of patients. Joe has also continued
with upper limb management/retraining, falls prevention, neurological
rehabilitation, custom wheelchair/seating prescription and carer/patient
training on safe management techniques.
Prior to this Joe worked in Injury Prevention n early 2010, management and prevention role, working closely with workplaces and injured clients to manage return to work, injury management strategies, workplace injury prevention programs and ergonomic training.
Joe relocated to Perth in mid 2010 with his wife (then, partner), who was posted to Perth as part of her role as a Defence Force Pilot.
After relocating to Perth in mid-2010, Joe worked as the Senior Occupational Therapist with Technology Assisting Disability WA, completing patient assessment and design/development of customised aids and equipment for those facing a disability, aswell as customised seating/wheelchair/pressure care management for chronic disability. Uniquely, Joe was fortunate in Perth to work with the ‘Freedom Wheels’ program, designing customised bicycles for paediatric patients with chronic disease and physical impairments. While in Perth, Joe also worked with the local health district in upper limb trauma and post-operative management, aswell as neurological rehabilitation and upper limb retraining.
After returning to Sydney in August 2012, Joe took up a short-term Senior Occupational Therapist role at Injury Treatment Pty Ltd, completing workplace injury management and rehabilitation management for employers and injured workers.
Joe soon concluded this role and began a locum position at Concord Hospital in Sydney, working within Aged Care and Rehabilitation , providing treatment and therapy management to patients throughout the Sydney West and Sydney South West Local Health Districts. This role ignited Joe’s passion for aged care, particularly within falls prevention and in-home management of chronic conditions and disease. Which lead him to us!
